Ani Difranco
Angela Maria Ani DiFranco was born in Canada and is American. She has released more than 20 albums. DiFranco categorizes her music under the terms folk-rock and alternative. But it includes influences like punk, hip-hop, and jazz. A feminist icon widely recognized as Grammy winner Ani DiFranco is considered to be the father of the DIY movement being one of the pioneers to establish her own record label in 1990. DiFranco was a born on 23rd September 1970 in Buffalo New York. Her parents were Elizabeth (Ross), from Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) as well as Dante Americo DiFranco. Her mother is from Montreal as is her father, who is Italian origins. Ani Difrasco wrote and recorded the song "32 Flavors". This song was released in 1995 on the sixth album Not a Pretty Girl. The song's version can be heard in the 1999 Canadian romantic film Better Than Chocolate. DiFranco apologized in 2013 after it was reported that she planned to host a three day workshop at the Louisiana plantation for slaves. Even though she canceled the event however, a lot of participants (including our paper) were not able to feel regret. DiFranco offered a second apology a few days afterwards. Although she's known by the name of Little Peoplesinger, she's collaborated with a variety of musicians and artists, from Pete Seeger through Chuck D up to Prince. New Orleans is where she is based. Ani DiFranco lives with Kristen Ford. By 14 she was creating her own music. They were performed in bars and in coffee shops all through her teenage years. DiFranco has graduated aged 16, from Buffalo Academy for Visual and Performing Arts High School, began to attend classes in Buffalo State College. Her new baritone is custom-built by Alvarez guitar, designed by Chrys Johnston, who at the time worked as an Alvarez artist rep. The guitar is constructed out of solid wood with the top being made of cedar and the sides. The guitar also comes with the System 600 Preamp. The house she lives in is in New Orleans with her husband with two kids, as well as Lefty the dog with a long leash who wanders into and out of view while we chat. DiFranco admits she's ambivalent to the thought of looking at her career in retrospect, even though it's been three years.
