Julia Fiona Roberts' parents are Walter Grady Roberts and Betty Lou Bredemus. Roberts is from the fourth generation of Roberts family who resided in Atlanta. It began with her great grandfather John Pendleton Roberts who was an agriculturalist. Her father's passion for theatre was inherited by her. in the theatre at a young age. While a student at Emory University he appeared in various productions both in and outside of the campus. While stationed in Biloxi Mississippi, he was inducted into the air force in 1953. Betty Lou Bredemus was part of the show as well. Both married in 2005 and they had their first baby, Eric Anthony in 1956. The couple divorced in 1957. the air force and Walter was enrolled in Tulane University in New Orleans Louisiana. The family relocated in 1960 from Louisiana to Decatur Georgia where Walter began working for Atlanta's Academy Theater and the Harrington Scenic and Lighting Studio. Walter along with Betty Lou started production in 1964 on the local children's Saturday morning television program Bum Bum and His Buddies and their Buddies, which they both funded. In 1964, Walter and Betty Lou founded their own organization called the Actors and Writers Workshop. It lasted for 6 years. They had two more children. Lelisa Billingsley (1965) (also known by the name Lisa) and Julia Billingsley (1967) (also known by the name Julie).
